HEY EVERYONE!

WE HAVE BEEN WAITING AND WAITING AND THE DAY IS ALMOST HERE! OUR FIRST FOAL IS DUE TO ARRIVE ANYDAY NOW! WE WILL PUT SOME PICTURES OF THE FOAL UP WHEN SHE HAS IT AND WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED. WE GOT A NEW MARE, HER NAME IS DYNACOOL DOC. SHE IS BLACK AND SHE IS DUE TO FOAL IN MAY. SO THIS YEAR WE WILL HAVE 3 BABIES! WE WILL BE BREEDING 2 OF THEM BACK TO MY STUD ASK'EM, FOR 2010 BABIES. THE ONE MARE THAT IS NOT GOING TO BE BRED BACK IS MY MARE THATS DUE TO FOAL ANY DAY. SHE WILL BE BROKE AND STARTED FOR BARRELS. AFTER SHE PROVES HERSELF THEN WE WILL GO BACK TO BREEDING HER.

EVERYTHING HAS KIND OF STOPPED SO WE CAN MAKE SURE WE ARE HERE FOR MY MARE WHEN SHE FOALS!

The news

Hi Everyone!!
Well things have been great here its been nice for the last few days, the snow is slowly melting off but the yard and the corrals are a MESS! Even still we are no where near spring yet. The news is still saying there will be rain and snow showers maybe the end of the week so we arent out of the woods yet!

Horses are doing good, both our mares are startng to show signs of foaling soon so now we just have to keep an eye out and watch whats happening. Probably March there will be at least one baby!

Colton has been working on the rigs and is doing very well. He seems to like it even though its hard work.

Nothing too much new just watching the mares in hopes of some strong and healthy foals soon!

The happenings

HEY EVERYONE!
The weather has been getting better and better, even though I know its still winter I have been enjoying every minute of it! I have been out with the horses brushing, feeding, giving treats and spoiling them! It wonderful

We have a big year planned this year. We have started planning which shows we will take our stallion to to get points and get him ready for 2010 to qualify for AQHA World. We have 15 shows lined out just in alberta. There are 4 or so in Saskatchawen so we are looking forward to a busy show season.

On top of showing our stallion we will be training a few of the horses for riding as well this spring. We have 3 to start/ finish undersaddle this year for roping and barrels. Hopefully we can take some outside horses as well, but we will see how busy we are!

This coming Sunday Mom and I will be going to Lethbridge to a Bridal show and I am so looking forward to it! Still looking for dresses and what not even though I already have an idea of what i want ;-)

No new News thus far other than our busy show schedule!

The New Year

Hey everyone!

The new year has been very good for us so far! It has started to have more warmer days and a lot of the snow melted. Not all of it like I keep hoping for but some of it. The ice on the lakes and rivers is melting and is no longer safe to drive on to go ice fishing but I didnt want to be on the ice in the first place! HAHA.

We have big plans for this year and we are just getting more and more anxious for all the plans to start!
This year we are building an arena with roping boxes and chutes for both team roping and calf roping as well as building corrals for all the horses. We will have mare pens, foaling corrals, a barn that we will build also, and nice round pen for starting colts. We are also planning on riding A LOT more this year. I will be learning to rope and starting barrel horses. I am getting very excited for this to start.

We are also going to be doing some more stuff on our house. We are going to be painting walls finishing the basement and putting on the deck around the outside of our house. We are really looking forward to all the work to make this house our very own.

We are expecting a foal this year in march, and will be breeding our stallion for the first time to our 2 mares. When that happens we will already be looking forward to 2010 for those foals!!

The new year is packed with exciting stuff for us expecially in October! Colton and I will be getting married in Taber and we are hoping for a lot of family and friends to come and enjoy our special day with us. We are so looking forward to the years ahead. I already have the dress picked out as well as the bridesmaid dresses too. I have my list together of people that we will be sending announcements to we are just waiting for Colton to get time off from the Oil Rigs to get pictures!

Christmas/ New Years

Hello everyone!

Christmas was very different for me this year, there was actually snow for the whole day. But as I said in previous entries it was too cold for sledding! Colton and I spent Christmas eve with his dads side of the family at his Grandmas house. It was a lot of fun to watch Coltons little sister Sydney and his little cousin Kaden open their gifts! The guys all sat around and told old Hunting stories of way back when and even brought out some pictures from way back when too! All us girls hung out in the living room and just talked about girl stuff I guess. It was a lot of fun to be there with all the family together!

That evening we came home to the farm where we had a very nice family supper of Prime Rib Roast and potatoes! Its the meal that we wait for all year long. We frantically finished wrapping each others gifts and finally called it a night.

The next moring we had Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt over for breakfast. We visited and then in the afternoon we had LOTS of family over! It was so much fun. Me and Coltons 3 cousins Cordell, Mackayla and Jasmin all played a game I had never heard of, It was called headbanz and its the most fun I have had playing a game for a while! Its a great game for everyone even though only 4 of us had the headbanz on EVERYONE got into the game and was playing too!

New years was pretty quiet we stayed at home and had a nice supper and Dale taught us how to play Pitch , a card game, that turned out to be quite fun! we played for a while, watched a movie and headed for bed.

All in all we had a great holiday season and I hope that everyone else did too!!

The Happenings!

Hey everyone!

Things here are going great. We have all the horses up here and all together on the farm here we have 12 and one on the way in March. I havent been riding much because of all the cold weather but I got plenty in when we got here from August to October!

Colton and I have decided to get Married! We are planning the wedding for October 31st 2009 in Taber and I hope all of you can come! We will be sending announcements very soon so look for them in the mail! Colton is also working on the oil rigs as a roughneck and I really think that he is enjoying it! He seems very happy!

As for me I take care of the horses. Its a big job making sure everyone is healthy (esp. that mare of mine thats going to foal in march!). We have our own stud horse and 2 mares that we will breed him too in 2009 for 2010 babies! This will be his first foal crop and we are so looking forward to it!
We have been slow as you have heard because of the cold and snow but come spring we will be going 9-0!! We have an arena, Corrals and a barn to build on top of the horses that we have to start and get into shape so we can get roping! I will be learning to rope and learning to train barrel horses. I cant wait for the snow to melt, I have been counting the days! I have some big plans and goals for me and my ponies to learn and compete and just have fun. Hopefully meet some new people and make new friends too!

Now we just wait for the snow to melt and keep the ponies happy and healthy!

Canada!

So we made it to CANADA! It was quite the trip but we made it in 24 hours. We had 3 horses with us in 2 trailers. When we got into BC at about 8 in the morning we got side swiped in the truck and horse trailer that Bentley was in. The only thing that got broken was the driver mirror and the driver window were shattered out and Grampa Schmidt had to drive the rest of the way home with the window down. After we got here we got all the horses settled and had ourselves all a nap! We were EXHAUSTED!

Soon after we got here we got our basement dug for the house. It was pretty exciting to watch! Not long after we got that done we all went ot work on the basement walls and everything! That was quite the job! There was 7 of us all the time working on the walls and it took all of the guys just to get those walls stood up!

Finally our house came! That was the most exciting thing that I have ever seen. We got to watch our house be driven across the field on a big truck! It took all day to get the house off the truck and onto the basement walls thankfully it wasnt cold yet when all this was happening!

Novemeber 11th we got into the house! Its beautiful! All harwood floors except the family room which is sunken in. About a week or more after we got into the house the cold spell hit! It snowed and snowed and snowed, the temperature was averageing about -30 to -40 C (at -40 C its the same as -40 F so you can imagine how cold it was!) its still been pretty cold but we havent had as many cold days as when it started! The horses all look like wooly marshmallows! But they are all holding up wonderfully! Only 3 of our horses were not used to this kind of weather, all the others were already Canada or Montana horses!

Canada is great and so far so good! I love it here!
